STEPS
TO APPLY FOR AN LPFM STATION
LPFM Radio Station Requirements and
HOW TO FILE AN FCC LPFM APPLICATION
- Only
a non-profit organization, city or government agency may apply for an
LPFM (We can still help you by setting up a low cost non-profit
corporation prior to filing!)
- Use
a reputable broadcast engineering firm for a frequency search and
application filing.
- When
the FCC opens the filing window, your engineer will file the form 318
with the FCC's electronic Filing System "CDBS".
- A
few weeks after the window has closed, your engineer will contact you
regarding any competing applications and steps to take.
If
there are competing applications, negotiating with the other parties
may allow for a compromise such as time sharing agreements or
engineering solutions. Or even buying out the competing applicant's
position to drop their application.
If there are no other
applications, you are on the road to receiving your new construction
permit!
- When
you receive your construction permit, contact The LPFM Store for
Complete studio and transmitting packages! You're only days away from
beginning your very first broadcast on your new LPFM radio station!
Remember
though, you must have a Construction Permit from the FCC to build a
radio station in the United States. If you do not already have a
permit, contact The LPFM Store and request information on the
application process.
If
you do not have an FCC permit and do not intend to obtain one you may
wish to have a "Hobby" or neighborhood radio station,
please let us know, we can supply information on starting up a Part
15 Am radio station. These stations when setup properly can cover an
entire neighborhood or small city!
